Arunima Sinha is world’s 1st female amputee to climb Mount Everest, not only world’s she is the first Indian amputee to climb Mount Everest, and also she was a national level volleyball player.
Arunima Sinha was pushed out of a running train by thieves in 2011 while resisting them. Resulting one of her legs had to be amputated below the knee.
Sinha, was a former national volleyball and football player going for an examination to join the CISF in Delhi, she boarded the train at Lucknow for Delhi on 11 April 2011. cons wanting to snatch her gold chain and bag, that’s why, she was pushed out of the train. she admitted to the hospital with serious injuries, where she aware with the fact that lost her leg.
At the time of her treatment in the AIIMS, she dared to climb Mount Everest, was inspired by cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who had successfully fighting cancer, “want to do something” with her life. Encouraged by her brother to climb Everest, she excelled her mountaineering course from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi with a prosthetic leg, and She contacted Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to climb Mount Everest, in 2011 for training under her at the Uttarkashi camp of the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) 2012.
Sinha and Susen Mahto, a TSAF instructor, under the guidance of Bachendri Pal started their crescendo of Mount Everest on 1 April 2013. On 21 May 2013, at 10:55 am Arunima Sinha reached the peak of Mount Everest and becoming the first female amputee to climb the Mt. Everest. She took 52 days to reach the vertex.
